Why do we like the metaphor of the buffet so much when describing how transformative it can be to find out which sequence of core feeling-states serve your well-being the best?

Consider ancient Roman Emperors. They loved to eat. Some of them loved eating so much that they refused to put up with the body's natural limitation on food intake. So they built special rooms called vomitoriums in which they could eliminate one delicious meal to make room for another. They could do this all day, so life was an endless feast.

This packed a lot of pleasure into one day, but it wasn't particularly healthy.

Nowadays, you can do the same thing with emotions, but it IS healthy. When you know how much gratitude, awe, laughter, curiosity, storytelling, communal self-sacrifice, and brainstorming serve you best, and how often to invoke them, and the best ways to do so, your fundamental well-being increases.

Your body-mind likes all these experiences, even the ones that don't feature instant gratification, like communal self-sacrifice. It benefits from them in different doses. Your RDA for them is different from everyone else's.

Finding out which emotions work best for you, and learning how to evoke them regularly, and to share the skill with others, is the adventure of a lifetime. It's what AI Happiness Accelerator does.
