News flash-- Your Portals don't like each other

We have outlined how you have different Selves, or personality aspects, or Portals as we like to call them (since each is a gateway to a different kind of truth or experience).
You might think that these individual 'selves' have learned how to get along, having lived in your skull for years.
But they don't. Each has a different agenda. Each values different things. And when each one is in its ascendancy– meaning that for this particular moment it has captured your focus and attention and is viewed by you as the 'real' you– it thinks the others are wrong. In fact it thinks the others shouldn't even exist.
Imagine that you love ice cream, pie, and cookies. You have a long list of pleasurable memories about them going back to childhood.
But someone, perhaps a physician, convinces you that you should give up sweets for optimum health. You vow to avoid the foods you crave, and to exercise more. You steel your will and offer yourself encouragement for pursuing this new, better path.
But on your walk to the gym, you pass a bakery which sells all your favorite goodies. The smells are irresistable. The new gym-loving self fades away, and the old you takes over.
When you are in the grip of the cookie-self, you see Life through its lens. It has plenty of reasons to explain why it's OK to indulge in sweets. It holds a completely different world view than the exercise self. It doesn't engage the healthier self with arguments to justify itself; it just REPLACES the other self in your attention. While it's in charge, the other sub-personality might as well not exist.
The same thing happens with the six portals we have described as key to the work of AI Happiness Accelerator. You can't make them all happy at the same time.
That's not a problem, though, because with the protocols we have today, you can determine what each one needs, and provide it in turn and when appropriate.
When a sense of boredom or ennui has overtaken you, and you sense that a serious dose of awe or wonderment at the natural world would be appropriate right now, then it's not helpful to seek a group brainstorm. When you are subsumed with gratitude, it might help to indulge that sensation, rather than looking for how to create a mini-Hero's Journey.
While in one way we could claim that the Portals conflict with each other, in Reality there is no division. Each has its place which it earned over millions of years of evolution.
We just need to remind ourselves that all are valid, all belong, all are genuine parts of who we are. By using a tool like a checklist to keep all in mind and see which should be fed NOW, we insure that each gets its due.
