Do you hate Routines? Me too
Lots of famous experts tell us we need to have a specific morning routine every day. There is a certain amount of value in this. If your mind and body do the same thing all the time, they can grow in a predictable fashion.
But there's also a danger of stagnation, of stultification. Routines originally came about because during the Industrial Revolution, bosses thought that if people could be as predictable as a factory machine, productivity would improve.
But we're not machines; we're human. We have creativity, desires, whims, impulses, complex feelings. Many parts of us want nothing to do with routines.
At AI Happiness Accelerator, we base actions on what the body-mind is wanting RIGHT NOW. This can seem awkward if you're not used to asking yourself questions like: "Would I benefit most right now from a dose of gratitude? of Laughter? From helping another? From engaging in a group brainstorm?" From complex problem-solving?'
If you practice asking these questions, eventually you find that your psyche really DOES want certain things at certain times of the day.
What can be odd about this is that when you know what your body-mind wants minute by minute, you will turn down experiences that everyone agrees are valuable, but that you don't see as valuable RIGHT NOW. Someone may want a good laugh, which you would definitely find welcome at another time, but right now you are deep in a group brainstorm.
There is a buffet of feeling-states and emotions you value, and knowing what they are and which ones to evoke at a given time is a skill that can benefit you for a lifetime.
